In short

The PRG32 runtime and offline games do not require a user account. Data is handled only when a feature needs it—for example, when you create a Cartridge Store account, upload a cartridge, submit a score, use multiplayer, or send performance metrics.

01

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to PRG32 applications and games distributed through software or app stores, the PRG32 Cartridge Store, and related services operated by the PRG32 project (collectively, the “Services”).

Individual community-developed cartridges may provide additional notices if they use features or services outside PRG32. Links to third-party websites and repositories are governed by those third parties’ own policies.

02

Information we handle

Offline applications and games

The core PRG32 runtime does not require registration. Offline games may store settings, saved progress, or other game data locally on your device. PRG32 does not receive that local data unless you choose to use a connected feature.

Cartridge Store accounts

If you create an account, the service processes your email address, account identifier, verification status, and authentication information needed to secure the account.

Content and game services

Depending on the features you use, we may process:

  • cartridges, titles, descriptions, artwork, and other content you upload;
  • player name or identifier, game identifier, score, and leaderboard information;
  • multiplayer session information needed to connect players and relay game events;
  • frame-level or performance metrics submitted by a game or development tool; and
  • support messages and information you include when contacting us.

Technical information

When you use an online service, its server or hosting provider may process standard connection information such as IP address, request time, requested resource, device or browser type, and diagnostic logs. We use this information to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Services.

03

How we use information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide accounts, cartridge distribution, leaderboards, multiplayer, and requested features;
  • operate, maintain, debug, and secure the Services;
  • understand performance and improve the educational platform;
  • respond to support, privacy, or security requests; and
  • comply with legal obligations and protect users, the project, and the public.

PRG32 does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party targeted advertising.

04

When information is shared

Public cartridge listings, creator information you choose to publish, and leaderboard entries may be visible to other users. Multiplayer information is shared with the participants as required for the session.

Information may also be processed by infrastructure providers that help host or secure the Services, or disclosed when required by law, to address fraud or security issues, or to protect legal rights. We do not authorize service providers to use personal information for their own advertising.

05

Retention and security

We retain account and service data for as long as needed to provide the feature, maintain the integrity of public content and leaderboards, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and keep the Services secure. Retention may vary by the service and the way it is deployed.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to an open-source educational project. No system can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and avoid uploading confidential information in cartridges or public metadata.

06

Children and education

PRG32 is an educational platform that may be used in classrooms. Children should use connected Services only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, teacher, or school and in accordance with local age and consent requirements.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child in violation of applicable law. A parent, guardian, or school representative who believes a child provided personal information without the required consent can contact us to request review and deletion.

07

Your choices and rights

You can use offline PRG32 features without creating a Cartridge Store account. You may also choose not to submit scores, metrics, cartridges, or multiplayer data.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where required by law or necessary for security and integrity.

08

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services evolve or legal requirements change. The effective date and version at the top of this page identify the current policy. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate project or store notice where required.
